CMEx summit to discuss Caribbean tourism

A well-managed tourism industry can stimulate both economic and social development in a country, according to the organisers of the upcoming Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx).

Representatives from the tourism industry, government officials and development specialists will attend the next CMEx this May.

The event is being held in Puerto Rico and will examine how tourism, which can provide guaranteed rental return from overseas property, can benefit local communities.

Counterpart International will be hosting the event for the third consecutive year between May 15th and 19th.

President of Counterpart International, Lelei LeLaulu, said that many areas of the Caribbean still had "untapped" investment opportunity potential.

"Puerto Rico tourism officials, led by the visionary Terestella Gonzalez Denton (executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company), understand that a well-managed tourism industry can stimulate both economic and social development without compromising its natural and cultural resource base."ADNFCR-1553-ID-18515912-ADNFCR
