The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has said that emerging economies are growing in popularity with British tourists.
Spokesperson Frances Tuke said that over the last ten years, the number of holidaymakers travelling to emerging economies for their breaks has risen by more than 200 per cent.
Ms Tuke said that visitors are flocking to these countries because they are "exciting" and "exotic" and they are developing rapidly and investing in tourism infrastructure
In addition, they also offer different types of holiday experiences for people who want to push the boundaries.
Ms Tuke said: "In terms of emerging economies and mid and long haul destinations that's really where the largest amount of growth has been happening over the last few years."
In related news, Caribbean Airlines recently announced that it will extend its service to the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, allowing holidaymakers to fly between the country and other Caribbean destinations.
"The cost of living in the United Kingdom can make overseas countries look extremely attractive, considering what you can purchase for your money whilst you are there. Emerging markets often have far lower costs of living than more established markets.
"As such, it is unsurprising that new routes have been added to Venezuela. As well as the exquisite scenery of the mainland, this country hosts the island of Isla Margarita, famous for its watersports, as well as more peaceful spots, including Caracola Beach," Matt Legg, Emerging Earth.
