Head to Margarita for a 'peaceful summer'

Holidaymakers concerned about the hurricane season ruining their trip abroad this summer should pack their bags and head to the sunny Caribbean island of Margarita, the Greater Houston Weekly has advised.

Isla Margarita, located to the north-east of Venezuela, lies outside the Caribbean's hurricane belt and is a safe bet both for travellers and property buyers as there is a less than two per cent chance that the island will be hit by a major storm, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Furthermore, tourists are being offered strong incentives to book their Caribbean holiday this summer.

The Greater Houston Weekly has reported that a number of airlines and tour operators are offering attractive discounts to holidaymakers to the region.

Isla Margarita is a popular destination with wealthy Venezuelans who go there to take advantage of the island's duty free status.

An additional bonus is that Margarita has a sales tax that is only 0.5 per cent, according to the Right Move abroad.
