Dominican signs trade agreement with Cuba

The Dominican Republic has signed a trade agreement with Cuba in an effort to encourage economic ties and investment between the two countries, it has emerged.
According to Caribbeannewsnet.com, the move will see an increase in bilateral trade and investment between the Dominican Republic and Cuba and it is also hoped that it will promote networking and opportunities between business people from the countries.
The deal between the two Caribbean nations was signed earlier this week during the 15th Expocaribe International Trade Fair, which has attracted 187 companies from 28 countries, according to the news provider.
According to the Cuban news agency, the Dominican Republic's executive director of the Export and Investment Centre Eddy Martinez signed the agreement, saying that he would like to see an increase in trade in the areas of medicine, biotechnology and tourism.
The Dominican Republic's Gross Domestic Product grew by 8.5 per cent last year, according to the Economist.
