Dominican free zones are 'bastions of stability'

The Dominican Republic's free trade zones have been described as "bastions of stability and future development" by an entrepreneur from the Caribbean nation, it has emerged.
Fernando Capellan, who is the president of the Dominican Association of Free Zones, emphasised the importance of the country's free trade zones, particularly in light of the pressures globalisation, according to Dominican Today.
Last month, news provider Truth About Trade & Technology said that a new trade agreement made between the Dominican Republic and the US has led to an increase in investment and commerce, as well as confidence in the Caribbean nation.
Manny Mencia, who is the leader of international business at Florida's economic development group Enterprise Florida, told the news provider:
"There's also a psychological benefit as the agreement gets more American, companies looking toward Dominican Republic."
According to the organisation, the Dominican Republic's economy is one of the strongest in Latin America and with a growth of ten per cent last year, it was described at "humming".
