Tourists and property owners travelling to Punta Cana on the Dominican Republic's east coast are soon to benefit from an increased number of flights to the region, it has been revealed.

According to the Xinhua News Agency, the Cuban airline Aerocaribbean will up its number of flights from the Dominican tourist area of Punta Cana to Varadero, a beach resort in Cuba, next month.

The airline will provide a service twice a week starting from July 8th, the news provider has reported.

Visitors and those who live on the Caribbean island will also be able to take advantage of a new flight route being operated by the Cuban airline between Punta Cana and Port au Prince, the capital of Haiti.

Punta Cana is one of the Dominican Republic's most popular tourist spots, according to the country's ministry of tourism.

According to the organisation's website, the area is "undeniably breathtaking" and perfect for holidaying families or couples.
