The Dominican Republic's east coast is drawing golf enthusiasts with its designer golf courses, luxury accommodation and good infrastructure, the Sun Herald has reported.
Felix Jimenez, the country's minister of tourism, said he wants the east coast of the Dominican Republic to become an "upscale golfer's paradise" while also preserving the "pristine beauty and eco-diversity" of the region, according to the news provider.
He added that the country's infrastructure is set to receive further investment of $1 billion (£500 million) from the government, following and earlier fund of $400 million.
Mr Jimenez hopes this will improve the Caribbean nation's road signs and motorways.
"These efforts encourage visitors to experience the Dominican Republic with ease and savour our marvellous coastlines, lush green golf vistas and azure seas in year-round tropical weather," he told the newspaper.
