Caribbean Tourism Summit emphasises investment

The Caribbean Tourism Summit which is to take place in Washington later this month will be highlighting how the region can attract a greater number of investors, it has been reported.
According to Caribbeanworldnews.com, the conference, which will be held from June 21st to the 24th, will focus on making the Caribbean more appealing to people interested in investing.
The former chair of the US Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, will be making a presentation at the event on June 23rd.
It is hoped that the summit, which is the first of its kind, will be run every year in the future.
Tourism is an important part of the Caribbean's economies and a number of Spanish businesspeople recently confirmed their intention to invest 3.7 billion euros (£2.9 billion) in the Dominican Republic's tourism sector, according to DominicanRepubliconline.net.
Leonel Fernandez, the president of the Caribbean nation, received news of the investment, which is to span the next four years, while on a trip to Spain.
