Venezuela boosts relations with Spain

Political relations between Venezuela and Spain are set to receive a boost with a meeting between ministers from the two nations, it has emerged.
According to the Spanish-language newspaper Prensa Latina, Venezuelan foreign minister Nicolas Maduro will be meeting with his Spanish counterpart his week to discuss relations between the two countries, as well as wider European and Latin American political issues, the world economic situation and rising energy prices.
"We are going to exchange views on the elements of the crisis in the north, how these elements work in the north and how they work in the south," Mr Maduro said, according to the newspaper.
In related news, the Venezuelan minister of energy and petroleum, Rafael Ramirez, recently said that the country is maintaining on average the highest level of oil production of 3.3 million barrels per day, according to eluniversal.com.
The minister also announced that Venezuela will be giving private companies the chance to develop oil fields in the country.
