The Caribbean is home to a number of the most beautiful and well-known golf courses in the world and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic is one of the best, it has been reported.
According to transworldnews.com, one of the most popular spots for holidaying golfers in the Caribbean is the La Cana Golf Course on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic.
The course is both challenging and picturesque and was designed by PB Dye, according to the website.
"14 holes feature breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea, and four play along the ocean itself. Each hole has been crafted to present its own unique challenge: sometimes infuriating, always memorable," it reports.
The Dominican Republic's minister of tourism, Felix Jimenez, recently said the government is planning to invest further in tourism infrastructure and he wants the east coast region to become an "upscale golfer's paradise", according to the Sun Herald.
