As living costs in the UK continue to spiral, Saga has said that more people may consider retiring abroad.
Spokesperson for Saga Travel Money Lisa Harris said that many more people can see themselves living the "dream of retiring abroad" because house prices at home have risen to such as level that they are able to sell and release equity to buy abroad where property is often cheaper.
Other expenses such as food and services, including electricity and water, also tend to be less costly in other countries than in the UK, according to Ms Harris, although she pointed out that this depends on where someone is moving to.
"With the current expectation of further increasing living costs it is likely that moving abroad to enjoy retirement will become a more serious consideration for people," Ms Harris commented.
One destination where buyers can expect more for their money is Isla Margarita, where property prices can be up to 70 per cent cheaper than in other areas of the Caribbean, according to simplyglobalproperties.com.
