Caricom holds workshop for Caribbean businesses

The Caribbean Community (Caricom) Secretariat will be holding a workshop for businesses in the Caribbean to help them grow and develop, it has been reported.

From June 25th to 27th, policy makers and businesspeople from around the region will attend the Workshop to Address Priority Constraints Facing Small, Medium and Micro-Sized Enterprises in the Caribbean, Caribbean Net News has revealed.

According to the news provider, the event will focus on implementing an action plan which was drafted in October 2006.

The strategy highlights several areas which companies should focus on, including how to secure funding, how to work with policy, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and how to make the most of information and communication technology.

In related news, Caribbean businesses in the tourism industry were told that their "future is bright" at the First Annual Caribbean Tourism Summit, which finishes today.

According to the Antigua Sun, Enrique De Marchena, the co-chair of the Caribbean Tourism Development Company, said: "I believe this gathering is a strong step in the right direction towards forging the partnerships necessary to help our region grow."
