The island of Margarita just off the coast of Venezuela is becoming increasingly popular as a tourism and investment destination, according to an industry expert.
Located in the Caribbean Sea, the island is part of the country's Nueva Esparta state, which is also home to the islands of Coche and Cubagua.
Nick Marr, chief executive of property firm Homesgofast, said that the government is encouraging people to invest in Margarita, which could be good news for those considering a Caribbean off plan property investment.
"The government is pushing [tourism] and also it's a place that's attractive to lots of different types of tourist," he explained.
"[There are] American, South American and European tourists, so it seems to be able to attract tourism from all over. It's a place that is definitely up-and-coming."
Margarita is easily accessible via regional services and ferry crossings from the mainland.
It is also served by direct flights from Manchester, Birmingham, Gatwick and Heathrow.
