The Colin Montgomerie Golf Course at Punta Perla
The Colin Montgomerie golf course at Punta Perla is being designed as a world class, professional championship standard golf course that will be crafted and constructed to the highest of 21st century specifications. The course will extend to over 6,600 metres (over 7,200 yards) from the championship tees, playing to a par of 72, with ten par 4’s, four par 3’s and four par 5’s. The end goal is to create a course that will rival the esteemed golf courses of the Punta Cana area, the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean region.
The course will feature five sets of tees to accommodate and challenge a wide range of players and skills – from complete beginners to major championship professionals. The design will be highly strategic, with multiple choices and varying routes of play on every shot. Trees, sand bunkers and water hazards will combine with the immaculately prepared grassed playing area to give the course a stunningly beautiful aesthetic canvas for the intricately crafted routing plan and strategic design.
The harmonious integration of the golf course with the surrounding residential development has been a key aspect of the design development process. European Golf Design has worked closely with the developer to create safety margins and distances that allow residents to achieve an attractive outlook onto the course and to feel visually connected to its beautiful open space, but that maintain onlookers far enough away so as not to feel in danger from stray shots.
